11th Neural Computation and Psychology Workshop (NCPW11)
Oxford, United Kingdom: July 16-18, 2008
The Eleventh Neural Computation and Psychology Workshop will be held in
Oxford,
at the University of Oxford from July 16-18, 2008.
After the very successful Tenth Neural Computation and Psychology Workshop, NCPW10, held in the
"heart of the
Burgundy wine region and one of the gastronomic centers of the known universe"... (Dijon, quoting Bob French!), NCPW11
will come back once more to the UK, more precisely in Oxford where
"I wonder anybody does anything at Oxford but dream and remember,
the place is so beautiful. One almost expects the people to sing instead of speaking. It is all like an opera." (W. B. Yeats).
From this perspective, we should expect a very entertaining workshop...
This is the eleventh meeting in the
Neural Computation and Psychology Workshop series.
This well-established and lively workshop aims at bringing together researchers from different disciplines such as artificial intelligence,
cognitive science, computer science, neurobiology, philosophy and psychology to discuss their work on models of cognitive processes.
Previous themes have encompassed
categorisation, language, memory, development, action, etc....
There will be no specific theme, but papers must be about emergent models --
frequently, but not necessarily -- of the connectionist/neural network kind,
applied to cognition.
These workshops have always been
characterized by their limited size, high quality papers, the absence of parallel talk sessions, and a schedule that is
explicitly designed to encourage interaction among the researchers present in an informal setting.
Deadline for abstract Submission has passed!
About 30 papers will be accepted as oral presentations
and poster sessions will be organised.
After the conference, participants will be invited to submit a full paper for the post-conference proceedings. Participants will also be offered
the possibility to contribute to a special issue of an international neural network journal made up of a selection of the most relevant research papers.
